The 2015-2019 Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) $2.8B capital program will make crucial investments in rolling stock and infrastructure as the railroad looks to maintain and improve safety, reliability, and on-time performance. To be ready for East Side Access—when the LIRR will begin operating trains directly to Grand Central Terminal—the LIRR will expand capacity in Jamaica and add train storage and track capacity at key locations throughout its system. The railroad will purchase 164 M-9 electric cars to replace its aging M-3 fleet, and to expand service. The program also includes station upgrades in Brooklyn, Queens, and Nassau and Suffolk counties, as well as investments to maintain and improve state of good repair. The 2015-2019 Capital Program will also allow the LIRR to complete the installation of the Positive Train Control system.
M&J Engineering is providing support to the LIRR Capital Projects and other infrastructure projects including the Jamaica Capacity Improvements, three (3) Mega projects consisting of the Second Track at Farmingdale to Ronkonkoma, Hillside North Siding, and the Hicksville Station Improvements. Work includes planning, tracking and monitoring of project scope, resources, cost and the use of Primavera P6 software. M&J is responsible for developing, maintaining and reviewing detailed CPM/PDM based resource and cost loaded schedules in Primavera P6. Work also includes simple, as well as, complex analytical reports using P6, BI Publisher, Crystal Reports, Word, Excel and integrating Project Expenditure Financial System data with P6.
