Dear Colleague, It gives me great pleasure to announce that Mr. Hosam Hamdi has joined our firm as a Resident Engineer and Team Leader. Mr. Hamdi is a licensed professional engineer in New York and Connecticut. He is currently a member of ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineering) and AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction). Mr. Hamdi has over 20 years of experience in civil engineering, bridge construction, storm water drainage, box culverts, residential and commercial buildings, water pump houses, and highways. His experience includes routine and in-depth inspections of state and town bridges, as well as emergency seismic inspections, design review and value engineering for residential and commercial buildings, deep excavation (utilizing water needles system to lower water table level and sheet piles to stabilize the soil), design review of vertical, horizontal and spiral curves. Mr. Hamdi reviews environmental monitoring plans to addresses the daily visible emissions observations that would be performed and the corrective action that would be implemented in the event emissions or releases occur. He also reviews waste management plans which addresses all aspects of waste handling, storage, testing, hauling and disposal. Mr. Hamdi has also performed Biennial inspection of long span bridges including the Manhattan Bridge, Tappan Zee, Newburgh-Beacon South and North Spans, Bear Mountain, Kingston-Rhinecliff, Rip Van Winkle and Mid-Hudson Bridges. Mr. Hamdi previously served as a resident engineer of a $22 million dollar Waterside Plaza Structural rehabilitation project, one of four 37- floor buildings constructed on a platform over the East River. The most outstanding part of this project was the use of a new material, Carbon fiber. For the first time Carbon fiber sheets were implemented in restoring the structural capacity and integrity of the defective structural members of the building. Cordially, Maqsood A.
