NYSDOT, CI Services for Preventive Maintenance of Masonry Retaining Walls at Various Locations in New York, Kings, and Richmond Counties, NY

const02b M&J is the prime consultant for this project that provides construction inspection services to NYSDOT Region 11, for project D030538, Preventive Maintenance of Masonry Walls at various locations in New York, Kings, and Richmond counties.

The Project is currently rehabilitating brick veneer retaining walls in various degrees of deterioration. Existing conditions being the driving force, details will be utilized as required to remove isolated locations by installing temporary structural steel shelf supports for portions to remain above or 100% removal of full panels.

All locations require removal of Lead Based Paint or Asbestos Abatement before brick veneer treatment. Temporary soil erosion and night and day-time work zone traffic control with requisite night lighting are required. In over 50% of the locations, Prefabricated Simulated Brick Panels will be placed extensively where erosion has not compromised the structural integrity of the brick panels.

The project involves CPM scheduling and coordination with other agencies such as the PANY & NJ, MTA, New York City OCMP and NYPD. The scope of work also includes tree removal and landscaping. To date, work has been completed on the Henry Hudson Parkway north of the George Washington Bridge, the Major Deegan Expressway and Mosholu Parkway and the BQE.
