Mr. Shahram (Shah) Jaromi, P.E., ENV SP is a Senior Vice President for M&J. He has over 32 years of experience in the field of infrastructure/construction. Shah is a former Associate Commissioner of the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC), responsible for managing and engineering hundreds of projects valued at tens of billions of dollars within the five boroughs of New York City. Shah administered and managed hundreds of in-house professionals and hundreds of consulting and construction contracts on behalf of New York City’s Departments of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) and Transportation (NYCDOT) for roadway, sewer, watermain, and plaza reconstruction, infrastructure resiliency, select-bus-service (SBS), retaining walls, step streets, bridges, public facilities, and green infrastructure. Shah’s noteworthy accomplishments amongst many include reconstruction of numerous segments of Lower Manhattan post 9/11 under federal and capital-funded projects. Throughout the process, Shah represented NYCDDC in all coordination meetings with other agencies and authorities such as City Hall, EDC, LMDC, LMCCC, NYCDOT, LMBCO, NYSDOT, NYCDEP, NYCDOB, MTACC, NYCT, and private utility companies. Shah additionally managed to deliver the highly critical and publicized time-sensitive DEP-funded trunk water main shaft connection megaprojects in order to activate City Tunnel Number 3 so to allow for the existing tunnels 1 and 2 to undergo repairs and rehabilitation. Shah’s latest engineering responsibilities prior to retiring from the government was planning and initiating construction of the billion-dollar-plus East Side Coastal Resiliency project (ESCR) on east side of Manhattan from Montgomery to East 25th Streets. The purpose of this unique engineering feat is to ensure that hundreds of thousands of local inhabitants are protected from flooding due to Sandy-like hurricanes and climate change.
