TAMS (Traffic Asset Management System) Database Creation New York, NY

M&J Engineering populated the database for the GIS based Asset Management System for both the Bronx and Western Queens ITS corridors. This is a GIS based asset management software package (Developed by Parsons Corporation for New York State DOT) that is intended to document the ITS and some selected non-ITS assets currently installed along the busy urban expressways and parkways included in these corridors. The ultimate purpose of this work is to facilitate maintenance and generation of work orders and trouble tickets for the system.

The project included the following tasks
  • Reviewing plans for ITS components
  • Field investigation comparing what is actually built
  • Plotting precise locations of components in base map with GPS unit
  • Plotting assets including CCTV, VMS, Meter Cabinets, Various Detectors, Conduits, HAR and Transmitting them into the system
  • Digital pictures attached to assets in TAMS software
